Swivel

The swivel performs:

1       Hold the weight of the drill string

2      Allows free rotation of the drill string string without leaking of mud 

3     Provides a passage for the mud to enter the drilling string

Travelling Block

Travelling block also has sheaves over with the drill line is passing and it hanged with the crown block with the help of drill line. Its lower part is connected by rotary hook, which holds all the equipment, which is to be run into the well.

Crown Block

Crown block is a combination of sheaves over which the drill line passes it holds the weight of hole string hanged by the hook.

Drill Line

It is a wire line which is made of many strands.it is wound over draw works and passes through the sheaves of crown bole and travelling block many times to increase the maximum hoisting capacity  slacking or drilling line with the help of draw works move the traveling block up and down.

Draw Works

Draw works or hoist is rotating drum over which the drill line is wound. The driller moves the travelling block up and down operates cat head to make or break pipe connections and rotates and rotary table with the help of draw works.

Prime Movers

These are electric motors which transmit power to draw works.
